Vintage Tea Party Inspiration

Vintage Tea Party | Belle Studio Photography | Teacups & Tantrums | Sparkle & Swish Wedding Blog

I stumbled across this tea party shoot recently, and just had to share it with you!  It was captured by London based photographers Belle Studio, with cupcakes, cakes and vintage china from Teacups & Tantrums, a company who specialise in bespoke cakes and vintage crockery hire.  From the tiny roses decorating the desserts, to the elegant silver cutlery and floral napkins, everything about this shoot is appealing.  What gorgeous inspiration for your wedding day or hen party!  Thanks very much to Marzena of Belle Studio for sharing it with us.

Sweet Ambs Hand Decorated Cookies – Perfect Wedding Favours!

Hand Painted Tiny Rose Wedding Cookies by Sweet AmbsI’ve fallen in love with Sweet Amb’s incredible hand decorated cookies.  They’re so beautifully crafted, it’s hard to even consider eating one, but I imagine that they taste just as wonderful as they look!  They’d make luxurious wedding favours for your guests, or would look perfect in any dessert display.  You could even consider giving them as a unique hand crafted gift to your new husband or wife.

The wonderful thing about Amber is, not only does she make amazing cookies, but she also shares her techniques through her blog.  So if you’d like to try making your own brush embroidered or filigree cookies then she’ll guide you through with video and blog tutorials.  I love when a skilled professional is generous enough to share their secrets and encourages others to be creative too.

Check out the links below for more information on Amber and her work, and if you live somewhere she doesn’t deliver to I’m sure that she’ll still inspire you with ideas for your wedding day.

Wedding Inspiration – Edible Flowers

Edible Flowers Wedding 1

Flower Power Cake from Green Kitchen Stories

Edible flowers are a beautiful way to add a touch of charm to your wedding day.  Whether you choose to top your wedding cake with pretty blooms, serve cocktails garnished with delicate petals, or provide your guests with edible floral favours, they will add an exotic and striking element to the whole affair!  Roses, pansies and violets seem to be the most popular choices, and they look so very romantic, but your cake and catering vendors should be able to help you with choosing a style that suits your day.

If you’d like to try your own hand at using edible flowers, then please remember that not all blooms are safe to eat – Thompson & Morgan have a really great guide that should help you, and there are several links to DIY ideas in this post.  Always make sure that they are fresh and free from pesticides and insects.  Use your common sense and only use flowers you’re certain can be eaten.  Remember it’s usually their petals that are edible, so don’t use the whole plant, and if they are not sugared then they will wilt, so choose your timing wisely (it may be best to get some help!).

Wedding Trend Watch – Pleated Cakes

Pleated Wedding Cakes

Cake on left by Jen’s Cakes via 100 Layer Cake // Cake on right by Cake Lady Jill via Ruffled

Pleated cakes are everywhere at the moment, and I particularly love this kind; two tiers of colour, a luxurious ruffled look to the icing, and a pretty flower on top to finish it off.  Very simple, and very elegant.
